Recreación Histórico Internacional de la Batalla de Almansa

La Batalla de Almansa se produjo durante el conflicto internacional de la Guerra de Sucesión Española el 25 de abril de 1707 en Almansa.
En el enfrentamiento, las tropas franco-españolas mandadas por el duque de Berwick, derrotaron a las tropas aliadas del archiduque Carlos de Austria. La batalla no fue decisiva para el fin del conflicto internacional, pero sí abrió las puertas hacia el Reino de Valencia. Como consecuencia de esta batalla, el Reino de Valencia fue ocupado por las tropas borbónicas.

Battle of Almansa
The Battle of Almansa, fought on April 25, 1707, was one of the most decisive engagements of the War of the Spanish Succession. At Almansa, the Franco-Spanish army under Duke of Berwick soundly defeated the allied forces of Portugal, Britain, and the United Provinces led by the Earl of Galway.
The victory was a major step in the consolidation of Spain under the Bourbons, who conquered most of the eastern parts of Spain.

Moros y Cristianos de Alcoy

Las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de Alcoy tienen su origen en la Batalla de Alcoy producida en 1276 a las puertas de la ciudad y que tradicionalmente se supone que enfrentó a los habitantes de Alcoy con las tropas del Caudillo musulmán Alazraq. Cuenta la leyenda que en el momento clave de la batalla apareció la figura de San Jorge a lomos de un caballo sobre las murallas de la ciudad y que su figura decidió el resultado de la Batalla.
Las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos empiezan con el día de las entradas (22.04.), el día de San Jorge (23.04.), y terminan el 23.04. con el día de la batalla.
Numerosos pueblos del Levante Español celebran fiestas de Moros y Cristianos pero las de Alcoy alcanzan desde el último tercio del siglo XX, una especial singularidad en la riqueza y espectacularidad de sus boatos que las ha llevado a ser declaradas de interés turístico internacional.

 

Moros y Cristianos (in Spanish) or Moros i Cristians (in Valencian), literally means Moors and Christians, and is a set of festival activities which are celebrated in many towns and cities of Spain, mainly in the southern Valencian Community; according to popular tradition the festivals commemorate the battles, combats and fights between Moors (or Muslims) and Christians during the period known as Reconquista (from the 8th century through the 15th century).
The festivals represent the capture of the city by the Moors and the subsequent Christian reconquest. The people that take part in the festival are usually enlisted in filaes or comparsas (companies that represent the Christian or Moor legions), and for several days, they parade with bombastic costumes loosely inspired by Medieval fashion. Christians wear fur, metallic helmets, and armor, fire loud arquebuses, and ride horses. In contrast, Moors wear ancient Arab costumes, carry scimitars, and ride real camels or elephants. The festival develops among shots of gunpowder, medieval music, and fireworks, and ends with the Christians winning a simulated battle around a castle.
The most well-known Moros y Cristianos festival takes place in Alcoi from 22 to 24 April, around the Feast Day of Saint George (Catalan: Sant Jordi ; Spanish: San Jorge). According to legend, after James I of Aragon reconquered the city of Alcoi, the Moors, in turn, tried to recover it shortly after. But, when they were about to start the battle again, Saint George miraculously appeared to the Moors, who were frightened away.

Especial Semana Santa Marinera de Valencia

La Semana Santa Marinera de Valencia tiene el apelativo de "Marinera" por su íntima relación con el mar. Desde tiempos inmemoriales viene celebrándose en el Marítimo y los iniciadores de estas manifestaciones públicas de fe en la Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección del Señor, fueron pescadores y marineros.

Su origen ha quedado claramente impregnado en buena parte de los actos que se desarrollan a lo largo de un apretado programa de actos que anualmente se desarrolla en el distrito Marítimo de Valencia, donde la ciudad se abraza al mar. Y no solamente en los actos, puesto que cuanto más se conocen estas celebraciones más se descubren detalles que remarcan su nacimiento entre una población mayoritariamente dedicada a actividades relacionadas con el mar.
